If you think vibrantly, feel deeply, and concentrate intensely, you can probably create an entire environment in your mind and imagine yourself there.
Perhaps you have done so with a hope-filled dream, far-fetched fantasy, or nature-inspired landscape. God has fashioned the human brain to explore imagination and aspiration.
What a gift, then, that He reveals Himself in word pictures. His Spirit inspired writers to chronicle visions, communicate prophecies, and capture promises through Scripture.
More than mere ink on a page, those words breathe life into my being. The soul is lifted upward, or as my grandmother would say, “transported into the heavenlies.”
Casting my gaze to the throne room of the King will always invoke an overwhelming sensation of awe and anticipation. I get the same sense from those to whom it was revealed.
I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above Him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. – Isaiah 6
At once I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne. And He who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald. Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clothed in white garments, with golden crowns on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, and rumblings and peals of thunder, and before the throne were burning seven torches of fire, which are the seven spirits of God, and before the throne there was as it were a sea of glass, like crystal. – Revelation 4
I honestly can’t wait to join the scene in heaven and add my voice to the everlasting chorus!
“Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”
“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they existed and were created.”
“Worthy are You … for You were slain, and by Your blood You ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and You have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.”
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”
“To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”
“Amen!”
